The first stage will act as a registration and expression of interest. Should there be any issues or queries about the application, these will be communicated. The next step will be to invite you formally to participate and to upload your information on the website.
The second stage will be a rapid evaluation and vision of how your Place might develop sustainably.
It may be undertaken by the representatives of the local community, whether voluntary, or members of a local authority or commune, or as a joint initiative. It is not intended for this stage to be unduly time consuming, but it will require sufficient analysis, and process towards a vision to represent Your Place authoritatively in a European context. The Our Places Manual offers a set of guidelines, based on a methodology chart, applied with discretion, particular to each Place. Applicants may wish to participate with the Europa Nostra Community Support Team.
This may involve a day’s workshop or a more extended consultation, according to circumstance, followed by satisfactory completion of the application. Completion of this process may be spread over time to allow for consultation at local level. Acceptance of the Vision of the Place as a Europa Nostra Heritage Town or Village, Locality, Landscape or Island of Europe will culminate with award of the Europa Nostra Banner.
The logo and banner confirms a label of quality and sustainable endeavour to be used for celebration and promotion.
